Join us and step back in time – take a walk with us through the streets and squares of the Upper Town. We are going back to the 13th century, to the time of King Bela IV, the Golden Bull and the construction of defensive walls that protected medieval Gradec, to the time of fairs, trials and gun holes.
We invite you to a guided walk “Time Travel: Gradec in the Middle Ages”, where we will explore what life was like in the fortified city at that time. We will get to know the laws, customs and everyday life of the old inhabitants of Zagreb – the Purgers; we will find out who built the walls, where the towers and city gardens were, why pigs were a danger to the city walls, and how Gradec defended itself against the Ottomans.
Experience the history of Zagreb where it began – behind the walls of old Gradec!
