The exhibition presents the Collection of Non-European Cultures, tracing the journeys of people and objects from colonialism to the present day.
It tells a fascinating story of gifts from explorers, missionaries, collectors, traders, sailors, and travelers, and their movements through networks of trade, colonialism, and consumption.
Discover the connection between Dragutin Lerman and the colonial project of Belgian King Leopold II, what Tibor Sekelj was doing in Australia, what links Milka Trnina to American collector William Bigelow, and many other intriguing stories.
As a counterpoint to the exploration of non-European cultures, the exhibition also features contemporary ethnographic research from the scientific project ERIM – European Irregularized Migration Regime at the Periphery of the EU (2020–2024), funded by the Croatian Science Foundation and conducted at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research.
