15 Minutes on Anti-War Art
Instalacija Sag mir wo die Blumen sind by Vanja Blumenšajn provides the starting point for a 15-
minute conversation about how art can become a clear response to war and violence. How does
an artwork become a protest? Why do some artists choose recognisable imagery and a direct
message, while others respond to war by creating an entirely new visual language?
Through several examples from art history, from the Russian avant-garde to contemporary art,
curator Mate Marić explores the different ways in which artists have responded to war and the
fragility of peace.
The event will proceed as planned in case of bad weather. Chairs will be provided for visitors who
may have difficulty standing for extended periods. Please let the organisers know upon arrival if
you require a seat or any other assistance.
