The Art Pavilion in Zagreb was built in 1896 for the Millennium Exhibition in Budapest, and thanks to the initiative of the painter Vlaho Bukovac, in 1898 it was permanently transferred to Zagreb and opened with the Croatian Salon exhibition. Located in the heart of Lenuci’s Horseshoe, it is one of the oldest exhibition spaces in the region. Given its historical significance, architecture, location on the Green (Lenucijeva) Horseshoe and continuous influence on the cultural scene, it is also considered one of the most representative spaces for exhibiting art in Zagreb and Croatia. Over more than a century of continuous operation, it has hosted prominent domestic and international authors, numerous major exhibitions, salons and thematic reviews of modern and contemporary art. After the 2020 earthquake, the building was severely damaged and closed for renovation. The opening of the Art Pavilion is scheduled for the end of 2026.
