Zagreb, Before It Even Existed
There is truly nothing unusual about a morning walk through the centre of Zagreb. It is just as ordinary, on such an occasion, to run into a friend, a sweetheart or an acquaintance, a neighbour or a schoolmate. It is perhaps only slightly unusual, walking from Zrinjevac along Praška and across the main square to Kaptol, to come across a bearded Roman, a mammoth, Emperor Diocletian, a certain Aconia Salvia or a hundred-year-old slave. All of them have stepped out of the museum display cases into the bustle of the city streets. What occupied their minds and their hands, how they loved and how they died, what they did, which roads they travelled and where to, what money they used, what they looked like and where the city’s earliest inhabitants came from before Zagreb was first mentioned in 1094 – find out on an interactive walk with an ancient twist.
