A Foundation for the Future – The Klovićevi dvori Gallery Collection of Donated Artwork

Exhibition

The Klovićevi dvori Gallery Collection of Donated Artwork is the result of donations by artists or their heirs who, after exhibiting at the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery, generously donated their works to our institution. Over time an impressive corpus has been formed, today numbering more than a hundred diverse works of art (paintings, sculptures, photographs, portfolios of prints, etc.) in a wide range of techniques and media. Alongside Croatian artists, works have also been donated by foreign artists, although these are predominantly works created in the last century by authors such as Slavko Šohaj, Ferdinand Kulmer, Maksimilijan Vanka, Vanja Radauš, Ivan Meštrović, Ivan Picelj, Petar Barišić, Kažimir Hraste, Željko Senečić and others. This exhibition will be the first independent public presentation of the Collection, which has been growing together with the Gallery for more than forty years. With this presentation we express our gratitude to our donors, but also defy oblivion by revaluing past creative achievements once again – this time in the context of the life of an artwork within a museum and gallery collection. Perhaps in doing so we will encourage similar gestures from our future exhibitors, because the Klovićevi dvori Gallery Collection of Donated Artwork is a small chronology of our exhibition activity and a strong pledge and foundation for the future.
