Lectures accompanying the exhibition Mijo Kišpatić – a Quiet Visionary

Discursive programme
Limited capacity – sign up required

Three lectures will be held as part of the exhibition “Mijo Kišpatić – a Quiet Visionary”, presenting from different perspectives the life, scientific work and rich output of one of the most important Croatian naturalists.

Biserka Radanović-Gužvica, MSc, museum adviser, head of the Kišpatić Collection and editor of the exhibition catalogue, will in her lecture “The Life and Work of a Quiet Visionary” present Kišpatić’s life path, his versatility and the lasting influence he left on Croatian science and culture.

Ivan Razum, PhD, museum adviser and head of the Mineralogy and Petrography Department of the Croatian Natural History Museum, will in his lecture “Mijo Kišpatić as a Scientist” speak about his most important research and scientific contributions, particularly in the field of mineralogy and petrography.

Iva Mihoci, PhD, museum adviser in the Zoology Department of the Croatian Natural History Museum, will in her lecture “Kišpatić’s Works in Zoology and Botany” present a lesser-known but extremely interesting part of his work devoted to the animal and plant world and to the popularisation of natural history topics.

The three lectures will provide a more complete picture of Mijo Kišpatić – a scientist, professor, author and populariser of science whose work remains relevant today.
