New Patrons for Sljeme – a proposal for an artistic intervention in the space of the former factory, a conversation with citizens
The artist Sanja Bistričić Srića, the mediator Maša Štrbac and the Sljeme for All initiative, together with a group of citizens in the role of patrons, invite all those interested to the first presentation of a proposal for an artwork for the space of the former Sljeme factory. Since March of this year, former Sljeme workers, members of the Sljeme for All initiative and secondary school pupils from Sesvete have taken part in the dialogue, contributing their experiences, memories and ideas to the shaping of the proposal.
The event is open to the public, and citizens of Sesvete are welcome to share their views.
Event organisers: the Prigorje Museum and the Open Art Workshop artists’ association, in cooperation with the citizens’ initiative Sljeme for All and New Spaces of Culture within the programme Zagreb’s Neighbourhoods of Culture. The project “New Patrons for Sljeme” was developed within the New Patrons platform, based on an internationally recognised model in which citizens commission artworks for the public spaces of their communities. The project is led by the Prigorje Museum and the Open Art Workshop artists’ association, with financial support from the City of Zagreb.
