A 3 km walking tour through Sesvete connects key locations in local history — from the medieval center with the church and manor, through industrial development led by Sljeme, to Cold War-era bunkers and modern urban transformations. Themes of power, labour, war, and memory open up stories that have shaped both space and people.
Jankić, a young man in traditional Prigorje costume, once the mascot of the former Sljeme meat industry, is now an iconic Sesvete landmark, symbolically linking these historical periods — a reminder of the neighborhood’s identity as always more than just a suburb of Zagreb.
