There is truly nothing unusual about a morning walk through the centre of Zagreb. It is equally common to encounter a friend, a crush, an acquaintance, a neighbour, or a former schoolmate on such an occasion. Perhaps only slightly less usual is to come across a Roman, Emperor Diocletian, a certain Aconia Salvia, or a centuries-old slave while strolling from Zrinjevac, through Praška Street and Ban Jelačić Square, to Kaptol. They have all stepped out of museum showcases into the hustle and bustle of the city streets. What was on their minds and in their hands, how they loved and how they died, what they did, which roads they travelled, what money they used, what they looked like, and where the ancient inhabitants of this place came from in the first place—all this can be discovered on an interactive walk with an antique flair.
