Traditional Meditation at the Museum
As part of the Zagreb Museum Weekend, the Croatian Natural History Museum presents a lecture on traditional meditation, conceived in the spirit of the Museum Wellbeing Reset initiative.
Contemporary people live faster than ever, constantly exposed to new information, experiences, thoughts and stress. The lecture will show how meditation can help re-establish inner balance, improve attention and develop patience and tolerance. By caring for our own psychophysical state, we indirectly contribute to better relationships and a healthier society.
The museum is in itself a space of slowing down, observation and composure. It is precisely from a calmer state of mind that we can more clearly experience what it offers us: new experiences, new knowledge and new ways of looking at the world.
In the special atmosphere of the museum atrium, visitors will learn the basic principles of traditional meditation, founded on the more than two-thousand-year-old Yoga Sutras attributed to Patanjali. It is a simple practice performed with closed eyes, in a comfortable seated position, lasting approximately 20 minutes. Its aim is to enable a gradual calming of thoughts and deep relaxation of the body without effort or force.
The lecture will present the benefits of regular meditation in a comprehensible and systematic way and show how, with greater presence and less stress, we can approach everyday activities and our relationships with the people around us.
