Join us at the Zagreb City Museum for the opening of the exhibition organized by the Museum of Arts and Crafts, dedicated to Gothic and Renaissance Goldsmithing of the 15th and 16th centuries. 15. The opening will be held symbolically on the anniversary of the unification of Gradec and Kaptol, marking the 175th anniversary of this historic event that helped define Zagreb’s modern identity.
The exhibition presents the most significant examples of goldsmithing created in or associated with late medieval Zagreb and the territory of the former large Zagreb Diocese, today the Archdiocese. Visitors will be able to see around fifty masterpieces by goldsmiths, including the oldest relic of the Zagreb Church—brought to the city in the 12th century—housed in a gilded silver cross adorned with enamel and precious stones. Also on display will be the most important liturgical objects from the period, such as croziers, monstrances, reliquaries, and chalices.
The exhibition is realized in partnership with the Archdiocese of Zagreb and supported by the City of Zagreb, the Ministry of Culture and Media, with sponsorship from Croatian Postal Bank, Croatia Osiguranje, ZAKS, and media support from Večernji list.
