Founded in 1954, the MSU is one of the world’s oldest museums specializing in contemporary art. The “Collection as a Verb” exhibition currently includes three ongoing exhibitions (“Futures”, “Friendship”, “Sad Songs of War”) and a series of smaller current exhibitions in the Triggers cycle, representing an impressive holdings organized into 15 collections and donations. The museum also organizes retrospectives, thematic, international and other exhibitions. Annually, the MSU holds 250-300 programs in the fields of visual art, film, music, performance, theater, etc. Internationally active from the beginning, the MSU has been a member of L’Internationale since 2023, an alliance of 15 European contemporary art institutions that are developing the joint project “Museum of the Commons”. It is located in Novi Zagreb, in the largest museum building in Croatia.
