Extended Festival: Marina Petković Liker – Let me hear you
The project Let me hear you is developing as an interdisciplinary theatre performance that explores spaces of communication beyond language and addresses the position of migrants and foreign workers in Zagreb. The aim is to create an innovative artwork that opens space for empathy and dialogue, involving migrants themselves as performers and collaborators. The performance Let me hear you explores spaces in which words are not enough – or are not available at all. Inspired by everyday encounters with those who speak other languages, who come from other worlds, who are here but are not seen, this performance poses the question: how do we understand one another when we speak different languages? And can we hear one another at all if we do not dare to look? Through an interdisciplinary, physical and research-based working process, in dialogue with performers who are also collaborators, the performance develops a theatrical language that rests not on speech but on presence, sensuousness and relation. Using projections, sound, movement and light, Let me hear you creates spaces of listening and looking – there where we usually keep silent and turn our heads away.
