On Eclipses
Discursive programme
Limited capacity – sign up required

The lecture provides a simple and clear explanation of how solar and lunar eclipses occur, why they don’t happen every month, and the differences between total, partial, and annular eclipses. Participants will learn about the role of the positions of the Earth, Moon, and Sun in these celestial phenomena, how they can be observed, and the significance they had in different cultures throughout history. With visual representations and simulations, the audience will gain a better understanding of these fascinating natural occurrences.

The program is held in the multimedia hall of the Croatian Museum of Natural History.
