Architect Dora Ivanova, head of the Buzludzha Project Foundation, will present a fascinating case of managing the restoration of a politically and socially sensitive architectural heritage. The Buzludzha monument, once a symbol of power and ideology, today stands as an abandoned colossus of brutalist architecture. Dora Ivanova has been leading the international project of its protection and reinterpretation for several years, facing challenges such as negative public perception, bureaucracy and technical neglect of the building. During the lecture, he will talk about participation methods, communication strategies with the local community, and innovative approaches to the preservation and repurposing of heritage that evokes divided emotions. The lecture is intended for experts in the fields of architecture, conservation, and culture, but also for anyone interested in a modern approach to the preservation of complex heritage.
